About the Author

Scott Kingdon graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in Political Science and from George Washington University Law School. Scott was a corporate litigation attorney. He specialized in patent, corporate merger and acquisition, business insurance coverage, and class action lawsuits. He was a certified mediator in the state of Michigan for two years. In addition to serving as a mediator, Scott has been involved in dozens of mediations and lawsuit settlement conferences. Those experiences sparked his interest in studying the art and science of negotiation. His book by Powerlines Press, Making A Deal: The Art and Science of Negotiation aims to present a readable, practical guide to negotiation.

Scott has written for law magazines and journals, including Res Gestae (magazine of the Indiana State Bar Association), Preview of United States Supreme Court Cases, and The ADR Quarterly. He has written on the economics of health insurance for the Charlotte (Florida) Sun. His article entitled, “The Hearing Paradigm,” appeared in the January/February edition of Hearing Life magazine.

Scott is an avid sports enthusiast. He has been a lifelong participant in organized sports, including tennis, baseball, softball, golf, and cycling. In 2020, he will publish a book on the history of litigation between high school athletes and their parents and the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA). Scott lives in Punta Gorda, Florida, with his spouse, Joan.
